Dahi Vada

1 cup urad dal (split washed black lentils)
Or Can buy a pack of Dahi vada mix instead of letil
a pinch of baking soda
salt to taste
oil for deep-frying
Roasted Cumin seeds
Curd  / yogurt Whisked

For Making vada

Soak  urad dal in water for 3-4 hours.
Wash and drain the urad dal. Then grind it well .Add  soda bi-carb and salt to  urad dal paste and mix well till the batter is light and fluffy. Add a little water if required.Take the batter in spoon and put it for Deep fry in hot oil on a slow flame till the vada is golden brown.Drain on absorbent paper and keep aside.Soak the deep fried vadas in warm water for about 30 mins.Just before serving, drain and squeeze out the excess water and then add it into the whisked curd.Add Salt, red pepper powder and roasted cumin seeds .Now add sweet chutney  ( Jaggery Chutney) on it..

If you are using dahi vada mix you just have to add water into the mix and keep aside for 15 mins . Its ready to fry. After that follow the same method to make vadas as written for the soaked lentil.

P.S. Can add ground sugar to yogurt and mix well to make it Sweet.
